Hi New Friends and Followers,
So here it goes, in true candid nature I'm just going to roll with it. I started this blog not only as means to show myself as an artist, post hair tips, and subtle opinions pertaining to the industry, but also as a get to know you. There's so many hairstylists out there. It is a virtual world after all.
Where everything might "feel" close in proximity, its hard to really feel connected to an artist unless you know the whole of them.
What is there to say? I'm a hairstylist by trade. Hair "artist" by heart if you will. I fell In love with this industry 5 years ago and haven't looked back since.
I was born & raised in Laguna beach, CA; a sunshine child through and through. I grew up surfing, and snowboarding, not really caring much about my hair or the integrity of it for that matter. Fashion was my first love. I would sketch daily dreaming of the days I would walk down the runways, & take my bow.
When I graduated high school it was natural that I go to FIDM in Los Angeles, pursuing said dream. So I did, and I loved every moment of it. Still, something was missing. That drive to want to be up into the wee hours of the night. That hope, that light at the end of the tunnel that showed me "YES NICOLE THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE MEANT TO BE."
I was a descent designer, and a pretty good seamstress, so fashion design wasn't a total flop, but I still was lacking.
Flash forward a couple years, I'm working in LA, living in Orange County, just killing the time in the days, merchandising for a national clothing chain. Being unnoticed, and barely acknowledged. So, naturally, I moved.
I came to Denver with the intent at a fresh start and a new perspective. That's EXACTLY what I got.
A year into living in Denver, I'm at the Aveda institute Denver, minding my own, when I'm picked out of a crowd of students, being asked to fly to Utah, and create my own NAHA collection.
From there my career sky rocketed. Sure, there were road bumps, but doing editorial only proved to me that, being a hairstylist, although unsure of it, was where I belonged. I have fallen in love with this industry more every day, with all the new trends, and hiccups along the road.
I love educating students, and not only students but the clients and the models in my chair. I love to share my passion and love for such a unique art. So, this is the blog of a hair lover, hair doer, and go getter. Follow along for the ride.
